Exciting News from Christies International Real Estate and Telluride Real Estate Corp.

Christie’s International Real Estate continues to roll out new initiatives to our global Affiliate network, keeping us at the forefront of luxury real estate marketing and sales worldwide. Most immediately:

  • Christie’s International Real Estate magazine will be produced by August Media, an award-winning U.K.-based firm. Their first directive is a complete re-design with lifestyle editorial to complement our portfolio of the world’s most beautiful homes. August Media has launched and edited some of Europe’s largest consumer newsstand titles, for clients as diverse as Whole Foods, Discovery Channel, and the London real estate brokerage Kinleigh, Folkard & Hayward.
  • The printing of the magazine will transition over to Christie’s, which produces elegant catalogues for 800 sales each year.
  • Our Web platformwww.christiesrealestate.com will be expanded into a truly international platform and best-in-class website by Gabriels Technologies, a recognized expert in digital design and optimization. New features will include the launch of 17 languages, 49 currencies, mobile capabilities (iPhone, Droid, mobile web), agent websites, enhanced property data management, and much more. Gabriels currently powers over 9 million online real estate listings worldwide.

We will be issuing complete information on each of these initiatives in the weeks ahead, beginning with a full overview of the magazine project next Monday.

These developments are part of the overarching Global Strategy, introduced in 2009, to develop Christie’s International Real Estate into a network that is truly global in scope and performing to the highest standards of innovation and marketing excellence to the benefit of our valued Affiliate network.

As part of a recent review of our business worldwide, and to further align ourselves with our parent company and our esteemed brand, we have decided toconsolidate our marketing efforts in London and New York, which are Christie’s World and North American headquarters, respectively.

The Client Service role will be centralised in the New York office and expanded to include an account review process to ensure that every Affiliate in the network can maximize their association with the Christie’s brand. These new Client Service Associates, based as a team in New York, will also continue to deliver the network’s “help desk” solutions.

The Production staff will also be headquartered in New York. By having these both responsibilities in the same office as our Managing Director for the Americas, Jarvis Slade, and our Chief Marketing Officer, Ben Phillips, we will accelerate the response time not only for Affiliate servicing and queries but also for referral activity involving the real estate network and the art auction house.

As a result of these changes, the company’s Santa Fe office will phase out and close by July, 2012. This decision in no way reflects on the performance of the staff in Santa Fe, which is recognized throughout the network for their passionate expertise and exceptional client service. The decision means, however, the majority of our colleagues in Santa Fe will be leaving the company in the coming months. We are sorry to see some longstanding and highly-valued colleagues move on and wish them every success in their future.

Lisa Bessone, VP Global Communications and PR; Monique Sofo, PR Manager, Americas, and Global Social Media Manager; Kaysha Velarde, who will assume the new role of Manager, Global Training; and Kathy Haggerty, Advertising Sales Manager will continue with the company. Monique Sofo is relocating to New York while Lisa Bessone, Kaysha Velarde, and Kathy Haggerty will work remotely.

Your Regional Senior Vice President will be contacting you to confirm receipt of this letter. They will also be extending to you an invitation to join a regional conference call with Jarvis Slade, Managing Director, Americas; Ben Phillips, Chief Marketing Officer; your new Client Relations Associate, and current CSRs to discuss new processes and upcoming marketing initiatives.

Telluride Ski Resort Receives 8 Feet of Snow Since New Year’s!

Telluride continues to receive excellent snow with another 11″ in the past 24 hours.

Telluride continues to lead the pack with one of the best snow conditions in the Rocky Mountains. The skiing and boarding is the best of the year with snow in the forecast for the next couple of days. We hope you have made your winter vacation plans and have been enjoying the excellent conditions, but if not, the time is now. The Gondola Resorts’ website summarizes the property as nestled amongst almost three acres of old growth spruce with ski-in/ski-out access which enables snowboarders and skiers access Bridges ski slope. The description goes on to boast about the multiple outdoor entertaining areas, indoor and outdoor living spaces, and the natural environment. According to Telluride’s MLS real estate listings, A Place In The Sun ranks as one of the largest vacation rental homes in the area.
“It’s been an extraordinary experience to witness first hand the expansion of this magnitude at Telluride. We are extremely happy to begin the new year with what probably is one of North America’s finest ski resort vacation rental properties. Guests will find the new rental additions designed to bring back to life the lively ambiance of vacationing in the mountains which will make the travel experience to Telluride even more memorable,” said Gino Malara, General Manager of Gondola Resorts.
“To highlight the dramatic expansion at Gondola Resorts, guests renting any 5-9 bedroom luxury ski-in ski-out home will be treated to four-free adult lift tickets to Telluride ski resort”, according to Malara. The “mountain gift package program” was launched January 1 by Gondola Resorts as a promotion for the remaining 2011/12 ski season. Ski and mountain lovers can reserve the “Mountain Gift Package” by calling Gondola Resorts’ reservations desk. The program will not be available online.
Starting at $5000 USD per night during ski season, A Place In The Sun includes accommodations with an exercise room, home theater, elevator, 8 fireplaces, gas grill station, library and a guest cottage.

3.  Telluride, Colorado (PAF = 89): If you’ve been to Telluride, you understand why it’s on this list.  Seeing this town’s main street framed against one of the more magnificent box canyons in the world, the spire of its old courthouse saluting a battalion of serrated San Juan peaks, pays for the plane ticket.  As for that plane ride, Telluride has a reputation for being hard to reach.  It’s a tag that gets Dave Riley, the CEO of the resort, bristling.  “It’s simply not true,” he says.  “It’s easier to get in here than a lot of other Colorado resorts, and the drive is better.”
Riley speaks the truth.  Landing in Montrose leaves skiers with a 50-minute car ride to the promised land, a path that winds through the charming town of Ridgeway while passing by some of the most ridiculous vistas outside of Switzerland.  One of the choicest spots travelers pass is the Double RL Ranch, belonging, of course, to billionaire Ralph Lauren.  Compare that with the white-knuckle drive, next to semis and thousands of other skiers, up I-70 from Denver to Colorado’s Summit County. And once you’re in Telluride, the need for a car falls away.  There’s no better Main Street than Telluride’s in the Rockies outside of Aspen’s and Park City’s.  Telluride’s old town is connected to the upper town of Mountain Village (it’s an actual town) by a gondola that runs from dawn to midnight and is free for all.  There are many mountains you can visit that, technically, don’t require you to have a car.  But none of them give you the pedestrian nirvana that Telluride does.

Christie’s launches the 2011 fall season of auctions this week. Christie’s International Real Estate continues to build on the interconnectivity of the client base present at the sales by displaying our global properties at all the important art events. London gets the season underway with the Frieze Art Fair followed by additional London highlights which include the Italian sale and Post-War and Contemporary Art sale, with works such as the superb “Candle” painting by Gerhard Richter; expected to realize US$9,100,000-14,000,000.

 

On the other side of the globe, the world tour of the Elizabeth Taylor Jewels moves from Moscow to Dubai for the Modern and Contemporary sales, then to New York for November’s Impressionist and Modern and Post-War and Contemporary sales. That same month, we will be gathering in Hong Kong for the Asian Art, Wine and Jewels, before returning to London for the Russian Art and Old Masters. The year will culminate with December’s sparkling Elizabeth Taylor sale in New York.

 

These highly-visible and far-reaching international events are just one of a multitude of ways by which we are able to drive the interests of Christie’s highly-qualified clients to Christie’s International Real Estate.

New Website Search Feature  

 

A major redesign of the Search, Advanced Search, and Search Results pages on www.christiesrealestate.com has been launched. Highlights of the redesign include:

  • New auto-suggest features to make it easier to enter a search location or other criteria.
  • New Search by Regions (for example, “Caribbean Islands” or ”Adirondack Mountains”).
  • New Search by Lifestyles (for example, “Waterfront” or “Wine Country/Vineyard”).
  • New search results pages with three redesigned views including gallery, list, and map views.

New and Improved Extranet Site   

 

Our new and improved Extranet site was rolled out earlier this month. With its different access levels, agents can proceed directly to presentation and marketing materials, while relocation staff can target our Referral Directory and placement forms. Each company must now designate a “Gatekeeper” for the site who will, in turn, assign access levels for your personnel. The Extranet site will also be your entry to the soon-to-be-opened Online Store, which was introduced with enthusiastic reviews at last month’s Global Leadership Conference in London. Extranet training manuals and quick reference guides are now available on the Extranet home page. In addition, we will be hosting Extranet training webinars for key company administrators on October 18th, 24th, and 27th. More details will follow.

The Richard Gere Guitar Collection Fetches Nearly US$1 million 

 

With a passion for American vintage guitars, leading Hollywood figure Richard Gere amassed a personal collection built upon their playability and craftsmanship. The October 11th sale of the Richard Gere Guitar Collection at Christie’s New York realized US$936,438 and offered a broad representation of vintage American guitars and amplifiers from the marquee names of Gibson, Fender, Marshall, and Vox, as well as iconic guitars once belonging to Albert King and Peter Tosh. European Regional Conference

 

Delegates from 18 Affiliated brokerages gathered in London last month for the 2011 EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) Regional Conference. The summit provided participants the opportunity to share business-building strategies and better leverage their affiliation. Worldwide staff were on hand to discuss the Christie’s International Real Estate programs and services. Affiliates who recently joined the network—-Mike Greeff from Greeff Properties in Cape Town; Ronald Ennik from Ennik Estates in Johannesburg; and Nicolas Descamps from Cote Ouest Immobilier in southwestern France—-offered an overview of their local markets. Harmonic Convergence in Telluride

 

In one weekend last month, Telluride, Colorado hosted both the 38th annual Telluride Film Festival as well as the nuptials of David Lauren, son of Ralph Lauren, and Lauren Bush, granddaughter of former President George H.W. Innovative Marketing: QR Code Advertisements and Helicopter YouTube Tours 

 

Brett Ciarlo of Barbara Cleary’s Realty Guild produced a video starring himself with briefcase in hand and off to work on Wall Street in a helicopter. The result is an effective marketing tool to promote the only residence in Connecticut’s Fairfield County with a private airstrip. Van Sciver Realtors demonstrated innovation in marketing as well by running a full-page advertisement, complete with a QR code, in a recent Barclays Golf Tournament catalogue. The code directed interested golfers and audience members to a specially designed Web page promoting a selection of Van Sciver’s finest New Jersey shore homes including two properties enrolled in the Bespoke Marketing Program, the Sand Castle estate and the Manor on the Manasquan.

 

 

Coach Realtors Acquires Third Firm Within 60 Days

 

Coach Realtors recently announced its third acquisition in 60 days, with Malverne Realty joining the long-standing Affiliate on New York’s Long Island. ”This merger benefits Coach by allowing us to work with a  dedicated team of knowledgeable real estate associates with a strong commitment to the area,” said owner Lawrence P. Finn. Coach Realtors is the largest independent real estate firm on Long Island with 18 offices and over 600 associates.

 

 

Immobilsarda Srl Hosts Inaugural Golf Tournament

 

Pevero Golf Club, in the heart of Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda, hosted to the inaugural Immobilsarda Golf Trophy this summer. The well-attended event was sponsored by Immobilsarda Srl, the exclusive Affiliate on the Italian island of Sardinia. Attendees enjoyed local wine and gourmet delicacies at the award ceremony and browsed through Immobilsarda’s portfolio of golf properties throughout the island.

Lila Delman Real Estate Announces Highest Sale in Rhode Island 

 

“Daybreak”, a waterfront estate in Jamestown, Rhode Island, was sold for US$6,400,000 last month by Lila Delman Real Estate associate Cynthia Moretti. This is the highest sale in Rhode Island this year. Year-to-date there have been five sales in the state of Rhode Island over US$4,000,000; Lila Delman Real Estate has participated in four of those. This is the fifth year in a row the firm has achieved the state’s highest sale.
